Just like people all over the world are waiting for New Year’s Eve, we Malayalees are preparing for Onam. Rather than a harvest festival, Onam is celebrated as a festival to welcome the King Mahabali, or our own “Maveli”. It is believed that Emperor Mahabali, who is believed to be the greatest king Kerala has ever seen, comes from “Pathalam” every year on Thiruvonam to meet his people and experience their happiness.
INFONAM (INFഓണം) is a grand event hosted by Infolks to be a part of the Onam celebration. All our employees were excited about the event and participated in the cheerful celebration with joy and happiness. We’ve organized several programs, but this is the first time such a vibrant celebration has taken place after the pandemic. On this occasion, all of the employees were able to meet and spend a lot of time together cheerfully. Along with the employees, management pitched in to make this event a success.
A Glimpse Into Our Onam Celebration
We had made great effort to make this an unforgettable day in our company’s history. As a result, we prepared to welcome INFONAM. The day began with the onam pookalam competition, then moved on to the tug of war, thiruvathira, and finally the prize distribution to the winners.
A Thrilling ‘Pookala Malsaram’
When hearing the word “Onam”, we immediately think of the Onam pookalam. We organised an Onam pookalam competition for the employees. To make the competition more exciting, employees were divided into groups to make the competitions more interesting. During the pookalam competition, everyone gathers and makes jokes and funny comments to create a festive mood.
A Fierce Tug of War
The sport of tug-of-war (Vadam Vali) is an essential component of Onam. We put on a fantastic tug-of-war competition for our folks. We spent time singing and chanting together. The incredible game has entralled every employees. Both male and female employees took part in the game enthusiastically.
Thiruvathira
Thiruvathira made the event even more interesting by performed by the female employees of Infolks, highlighting the beauty and majesty of Onam. Women employees were dressed in traditional Kerala attire. The dance’s graceful movements are both enchanting and elegant. The white sarees with colourful borders along with fresh jasmines adorning their hair make for a wonderful sight.
Actually, it was a wonderful and memorable day for Infolksians. As part of the Onam celebration, payasam is distributed to the employees. Infonam greatly enhanced the communication between both management and employees. After missing out on Onam for two years owing to COVID 19, It was the most amazing day Infolks had ever experienced.
